7 Disney World Construction Updates to Know About Before Your Halloween Trip

It’s a BUSY time in Disney World!

Halloween decor in Magic Kingdom

Families are taking their very last summer vacations before kids head back to school, and guests are starting to flock to Magic Kingdom for the Halloween festivities like Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. Not only that, but it’s been a busy time for construction as well — so let’s take a look at the biggest construction updates from around Disney World this week!

Magic Kingdom

TRON: Lightcycle Run

More walls are up on either side of the Walt Disney World Railroad tunnel that will run under TRON!

Plus, we got a good look at some of the other walls and structures that are being built down on the ground. We can’t wait until TRON opens and the Walt Disney World Railroad is ready to ride once again. Disney hasn’t made any announcements on a timeline yet, so you’ll have to stay tuned for the latest updates.

EPCOT

Parking Lot

There’s a large portion of the EPCOT parking lot that’s being refurbished. It looks like they’re repaving the asphalt, which will hopefully mean a smooth ride in the future!

For now, the area is blocked off with traffic cones. We’re not sure how long this space will be unavailable, but we’ll keep an eye out for updates.

Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind

A new gate has popped up seemingly overnight near the Xandar Pavilion — the area where Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind is located.

It’s themed to the ride and seems to be permanent, so keep this in mind on your next visit!

Mitsukoshi

The construction in Mistukoshi has switched to the other side of the store! The left side is blocked off now.

This Japan pavilion department store sells all sorts of Japanese wares like apparel, food, souvenirs, and more! Construction seems to be moving along, but we’ll let you know of any major changes.

Journey of Water — Inspired by Moana

A few larger pieces of machinery have moved into the future home of Disney’s new Moana attraction. We’re anticipating an immersive, walk-through, water-based attraction like we’ve never seen before. For now, though, construction seems to be moving along slowly but surely. Emphasis on slowly.

More progress!

Will this construction be finished in time for EPCOT’s 40th Anniversary on October 1st? Only time will tell!

Woody’s Roundup Rodeo BBQ

Not much has changed over at Woody’s Roundup Rodeo BBQ, but we did recently learn all about the NEW table service restaurant’s opening timeline.

We can’t wait for this spot to open.

Despite just looking like a green fence at the moment, Disney announced this spot will open up later this year!

Disney Resorts

Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort

Last time we checked in on the Polynesian construction, the ground had been completely leveled and there was nothing but dirt. Now, it looks like more dirt has been added or just piled up around the lot, and some machines have moved in.

Disney is making way for a brand new building that will include hotel rooms, dining options, and even merchandise locations. Construction is slated to be completed in late 2024!
