Which Disney World Rides Need a Re-Theme, According to YOU!

Disney World tries to remain up on current trends, and with that often comes some pretty significant ride overhauls!

Splash Mountain at Magic Kingdom

We’ve said goodbye to The Great Movie Ride (now Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway), Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride in Magic Kingdom is now Winnie the Pooh-themed, and of course, we know that Splash Mountain is going to be re-themed to The Princess and the Frog. All of this re-theming had us wondering what OTHER rides could use a refresh — so we decided to ask our readers for their opinions!

We reached out to readers on our Facebook page and asked, “If you could re-theme ANY Disney World ride, which would you pick and what would you change it to?” We’ve rounded up the best responses to share with you!

Magic Kingdom

Monster’s, Inc. Laugh Floor

There were a few rides in the Magic Kingdom that our readers thought needed a bit of a makeover, with one reader saying, “I would change the Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor to a roller coaster that mimics the door/chase sequence in that movie!”

It’s getting ready to start!

This wouldn’t be too hard to accomplish, since the attraction already exists over on the west coast in Disney’s California Adventure, Monster’s, Inc Mike & Sulley to the Rescue!

An Interactive Part of Tomorrowland Has Returned to Disney World

Tomorrowland Speedway

Another reader thought that the Tomorrowland Speedway is “begging for a Sugar Rush theme.” For those that don’t know, “Sugar Rush” is a fictional kart-racing game from the Wreck-It Ralph franchise.

Imagine driving around in candy cars!

As much as we love the Ralph and Vanellope meet and greet in EPCOT, how sweet would it be to race around in candy-inspired go-carts!? Starting to feel the need for speed, already!

The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh

Overwhelmingly though, the ride that most readers wanted to re-theme was The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh. And while technically NOT a re-theme, it seems readers just want it returned to its former glory — Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride. Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride was an attraction that used to be where The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh now stands. While riding along in your hunny pot, guests can even catch a glimpse of a little easter egg of Mr. Toad handing the deed to the attraction over to Owl.

Mr. Toad and his terrorizing ride through England and the after-life can still be experienced in Disneyland. For those hard-core Mr. Toad fans, all is not lost, it’s just way out on the west coast.

How to Tackle Disney World’s Most Popular Rides

Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Dinoland, U.S.A.

Apparently, our readers have a problem with Dinoland, U.S.A. at Disney’s Animal Kingdom! Dinoland is, well, land, and not a ride — but SO MANY people shared thoughts about a full overhaul.

Dinoland, USA

One reader thought Dinoland should be re-themed to the new Disney movie Encanto. To be honest, who wouldn’t want to tour through the magical Casita Madrigal and see inside all of those enchanted rooms!? Does it fit in Animal Kingdom? Who knows! But if Disney builds it, we’ll be there…looking for Bruno and the whole gang!

Some others chimed in to suggest that Dinoland would be better suited for Zootopia. The animals in Zootopia definitely fit into the motif of Animal Kingdom. And all of the quadrants of that capital city are full of possibilities which include Saharah Square, Tundra Town, Savannah Central, and the Rainforest District.

On hot summer days, who won’t want to set up camp in Tundra Town?

Expedition Everest: The Forbidden Mountain

Readers chimed in to say they didn’t want a whole re-theme for Expedition Everest, they just want the Yeti to function again.

To the mountain we go

We’ve grown rather fond of the affectionately nicknamed “Disco Yeti” thanks to its strobe light effect. But, let’s get real, if that big fella actually moved and swipe his big paws (claws? hands? whatever…) at you, that would definitely add another layer of thrills to the runaway train ride!

EPCOT

EPCOT has gone through several transformations from what Walt originally intended for the Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow, and with that comes attraction overhauls.

Gran Fiesta Tour Starring The Three Caballeros

For many of you, this charming boat ride through the states of Mexico seemed a bit outdated, and the replacement choice was obvious: Coco!

Un Poco Loco scene from Mickey’s Philharmagic

Imagine taking that same boat ride but instead of through the ’90s version of Mexico, touring through the animated version of Mexico and the afterlife with Miguel and Danté! Sounds like a fun ride and we already have Un Poco Loco in our heads, yet another earworm to chalk up to Disney!

Soarin’

Some of our readers are looking to spice up Soarin’ (even with the fairly recent “Around the World” addition).  One reader suggested featuring Disney and Pixar’s Up as an alternative.

Soarin’ Around the World

That could be a fun application of this hang-glider style ride. Soar over the clouds with Russell, Mr. Fredrickson and Dug in their floating house and view scenes from the adventurous South America mountains and rainforest.

What’s New in Animal Kingdom: UP! Bird Show is BACK, A Really Swell Phone Case, and COFFEE!

Frozen Ever After

And just like The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, many of you wanted to get rid of Frozen Ever After just to bring back Maelstrom.

Frozen Ever After

Given the perpetual line and popularity of Frozen Ever After, it’s probably here to stay (at least for a while), but we love Maelstrom, too. Because “Those who seek the spirit of Norway face peril and adventure—but more often, find beauty and charm.”

The Biggest LIES Everyone Believes About Disney World

Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith

Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster was the first to come to mind for many readers. Someone even suggested that a Taylor Swift re-theme would do the ride justice.

Personally, we’d love a fun Powerline theme, from A Goofy Movie!

Star Tours

A few readers suggested re-theming Star Tours since there’s now an entire land dedicated to Star Wars at Hollywood Studios — and we see the logic. One even thought to replace it with Indiana Jones Adventure from Disneyland Resort, while another thought a Wall-E ride would be a better fit!
