Trying Some New Foods at EPCOT’s International Food and Wine Festival!

Join us this week as we try several food options from a few booths around the Food and Wine Festival!

THE FRY BASKET

First stop of the day was The Fry Basket booth, where we got the Fry Flight! This fry sampler came with 3 flavors: Sea Salt and Vinegar Fries, Barbecued Bacon Fried with a Smoked Aioli, and lastly Sweet Potato Fries with Candied Pecans, Toasted Marshmallow Cream, and Caramel Whiskey. All of the fries we tried were delicious; the mix of sweet and savory was really great. The Smoked Aioli on the Barbecued Bacon Fried was really a standout, and was absolutely fantastic. For $7.50, this is a great deal and a good amount of food for the money.

FLAVORS FROM FIRE

Next up on the docket was the Flavors From Fire booth! We tried 2 items, the Banh Mi Bao (top), and the Rocky Road Chocolate Cake (bottom). While the flavors on the Bao were good, the bun itself was a bit dry, and the piece of steak was cold by the time we got our order. There was a VERY unexpected kick of spice in the bun as well which was great, just very unexpected. However, the Rocky Road Chocolate Cake was absolutely phenomenal. This dessert was rich and decadent, with tons of flavors coming from the spiced almonds and ganache especially. We are definitely going to be getting this dessert whenever we return!

CHINA PAVILION

Our last food stop of the day was at the China Pavilion! We decided to try 2 of the new additions to this booth this year, which were the Mongolian Beef Bao Bun (top), and Dandan Noodles (bottom). The Bao Bun was pretty good, it was quite simple with only Mongolian Beef and Onion inside of the bun. The beef had some good flavor, and it was very tender. Overall the Bao was good, but it wasn’t anything that blew me away. Now for the Dandan noodles; we were warned by a Cast Member about how spicy they are, and they definitely lived up to that claim. This dish was definitely the spiciest dish I’ve ever had on Walt Disney World property. So, if you’re a fan of spicy foods and enjoy sweating during your meal, these noodles are definitely for you.

Overall, everything we tried today was good for the most part! The Rocky Road Chocolate Cake was definitely the standout of the day. We can’t wait to come back to try it again, as well as many more things in the future!
