Teleporting to Disney World Is Impossible, But This is a CLOSE Second.

What if there was a way to get to Disney World even faster? We’d all jump on that, right?!

Oh No…Not Traffic

We know how much of a buzzkill traveling to Disney World can be. We usually spend most of our drive or flight down wishing there was a way to teleport to the parks. And while that technology doesn’t exist…yet (fingers crossed), there may be a quicker way to travel soon!

According to CNN, a Colorado start-up, Boom Supersonic, has unveiled a major design for its Overture airliner. How does this affect travel? Well, as the company’s name suggests, their goal is to cut flight time down, with their Overture airliner set to fly at twice the speed of today’s commercial jets.

Imagine a three-and-a-half-hour flight from New York to London. It’s expected to be THAT fast. The aircraft is scheduled to go into production in 2024, and will fly passengers as early as 2029. The aircraft should have the capacity for 65 to 80 passengers. And it looks like it’s already sparking interest from commercial airlines, with United Airlines already placing an order for 15  jets, and Japan Airlines investing $10 million into the company.

As far as environmental impact goes, the goal is for the aircraft to be run 100% on sustainable aviation fuel (SAF).  United Airlines has already aligned with that mission by pledging to fly their Overture fleet with SAF.

We’ll be keeping our eyes peeled for any movement on this front, as these Overture aircrafts have the potential to change flights for the better! While we wait for supersonic travel to come to fruition, take a look at why you should skip flying at Orlando International Airport. Or, check out why you might want to skip flying entirely and just drive down to Disney World.
