New Airline Deal Will Make it Easier to Fly Between the U.S. and Canada

International travel can be tricky right now, especially with how flying has been going lately.

Many flights have been delayed or canceled, but if you can get a flight to international destinations like those in Europe, the prices are pretty good at the moment! We’ve seen a lot of airlines making moves like potential mergers or adding routes, and now, it’s about to get easier to travel between the U.S. and Canada!

Air Canada and United Airlines have announced a joint codeshare business agreement for the Canada-U.S. transborder market that will bring more flight options and better flight scheduled to people traveling between the two countries, according to a press release from United Airlines.

People will now be able to connect to 38 different destinations in the U.S. and 8 of the most popular cities in Canada.

This will also allow people to enjoy the benefits of both carries’ loyalty programs — MileagePlus and Aeroplan. And, this agreement will help both carriers grow their networks and advance their COVID-19 recovery.

This agreement marks a new phase in our evolving relationship that will speed the recovery from the pandemic and strengthen both carriers. It will also enable us to optimize our hubs and schedules and to broaden our global network connectivity to maintain our leadership in the market,” said Mark Galardo, Senior Vice President of Network Planning and Revenue Management at Air Canada.

If you’re looking for flights between the U.S. and Canada on either airline’s websites and apps, you will now find more flight options at more convenient times.

This new agreement will allow both airlines to offer more choice to customers, sell seats on each other’s flights between the U.S. and Canada, and share revenue on flights between hub markets.

This agreement comes at a time when some airlines have been canceling routes rather than adding them. Hawaiian Airlines recently announced that they would soon no longer be flying to Orlando, Delta cut back on summer flights, and many flights have been delayed or canceled due to staffing issues, among other things.

But, there are some airlines who have been adding routes, especially to Orlando. Avelo Airlines, Breeze Airways, and Spirit Airlines have all added routes to Orlando International Airport.
