How a Skittles Change Is Impacting a Disney World Treat Spot

A lot of talk has surrounded Disney World and supply chain shortages lately.

Main Street, U.S.A. Train Station

From missing menu items to shelves missing merchandise, multiple areas of the parks have been affected. On a recent trip to Magic Kingdom, we noticed that Skittles were missing from a few places in the Main Street Confectionery! But, instead of this shortage being related to supply chain issues, it turns out this might be because Skittles are CHANGING — here’s everything we know.

The Main Street Confectionery is your one-stop shop in Magic Kingdom for all the sweet treats you could (probably) ever want. It reopened in 2021 with a brand new look and new offerings — like the Kernel Kitchen, a create-your-own popcorn mixing station. Guests can choose a type of popcorn and various candy toppings to go with it.

Kernel Kitchen

Skittles are usually an option for guests, but as of right now they are unavailable at the Kernel Kitchen. Because of this, the Dapper Dan Mix is unavailable as well! We also noticed that the traditional Skittles flavor was missing from the bulk candy section.

Missing from the bulk section too.

But oddly enough, individual packs of Skittles were still for sale at the Main Street Confectionery. So, what gives?

You can still buy individual packs of Skittles!

We spoke to a Cast Member at the Kernel Kitchen who shared that the shortage may only be affecting the “bulk” Skittles at the moment, because the company is in the process of changing the Green Skittle from green apple back to its original lime flavor. You can see that the individual Skittles packs have lime instead of green apple!

Lime is back!

The Cast Member wasn’t sure when Skittles would return to the popcorn station or bulk candy wall at the Confectionery, but we’ll keep an eye out for updates. Be sure to stay tuned to DFB for the latest Disney news!

Another Character Meal is RETURNING to Magic Kingdom!

Thinking about making Disney World vacation plans? There are some exciting events coming up, like Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party and the EPCOT Food & Wine Festival! Plus, the EPCOT Festival of the Holidays is returning later this year as well.

If you’re heading to the parks soon, keep in mind that park pass reservations are still requiredso be sure to book yours before your trip!
