But that doesn’t mean your visit to the parks has to be any less fun! With proper planning, you can still have successful trips in even the worst of weather. That’s why we bring you lists of what you need in your park bag, what you’ll need with you when it rains, our favorite items to cool down with, and much more. Proper planning is going to be essential this next week, as Florida will be hitting dangerous levels of heat.
According to The New York Times, the heat index in Florida over the next week will hit dangerous levels. It’s recommended that people drink fluids, stay inside, and avoid the heat. Of course, that’s not exactly easy to do if your Disney vacation is during this period of time.
But, as we said before, proper planning can assist you in staying safe and having a good time. The most important thing to remember: STAY HYDRATED! With that in mind, be sure to take advantage of free water! Disney World has multiple places where you can grab free cups of cold water. Check out the list of free water locations here, and be sure to visit them often to grab water during your trip.
Additionally, there are also water bottle stations for those with reusable cups and bottles, providing even more locations to find free water. We have tons of information on water bottle stations here, including where to find them, what they are, and how they work!
If you’d like, you can also grab a misting fan, as they also help you cool down. While Disney World has misting fans available for purchase, they tend to sell out on hotter days. With that being said, we recommend just buying your own beforehand, just in case Disney’s misting fans are sold out during your trip. We provided some alternatives you can find online here! You can also grab a bladeless neck fan on Amazon (these are GREAT in the heat). Check one out here.
Disney also sells cooling towels, which are super useful. Honestly, you can never have too many ways to cool down, so definitely take advantage of any cooling items you come across. You can buy them ahead of time on Amazon as well — here are some that get great reviews.
Frozen treats are also one of our favorite ways to cool down! Luckily, there’s no shortage of options to choose from, with Dole Whip Day, Disney Springs’ Flavors of Florida, and summertime treats offering pleeeeenty of cold options during this upcoming heat wave.
And, when in doubt, head inside! There are air-conditioned areas all over the parks, including shops, restaurants, and other buildings. Indoor attractions like Carousel of Progress, Hall of Presidents, and Journey into Imagination with Figment all offer a great break from the heat.
And those are only some of our favorite ways to cool down in the heat. Be sure to listen to your body, take breaks when needed, and stay as cool as possible!
