CHANGES Are Coming to Disney World — Here Are 5 Construction Updates to Prove It!

Getting ready to head out on your Disney World vacation?!

Disney’s Animal Kingdom

There’s so much to see and do around the parks and beyond that it can sometimes seem difficult to keep track of it all — luckily, that’s where we come in. We’re in the parks ALL THE TIME looking for the latest news and updates, and we’re back again with the biggest construction updates from Disney World this week!

Magic Kingdom

TRON: Lightcycle Run

Last week, we got our first look at the nighttime canopy lighting on TRON courtesy of the Walt Disney Imagineering Instagram account, which was pretty exciting…

…but this week, we got to see it with our own eyes! The nighttime lights can be seen cycling through a few different colors and patterns here in this video.

We can’t wait to finally see this attraction come together — although Disney is still staying quiet on when we can expect TRON to open. Stay tuned for updates!

EPCOT

Journey of Water — Inspired by Moana

Slowly but surely, construction is moving along in the very center of EPCOT. We recently caught a glimpse over the fence and saw quite a bit of concrete structures starting to take shape.

Right now, you’ll have to take the long way around either side of the construction zone in order to make your way around the park!

Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Toy Story Mania Gift Shop

Work is still underway on what once was the Toy Story Mania Gift Shop. Guests have been directed through a detour since January!

Could this be the future home of Jessie’s Trading Post? Disney hasn’t shared any details about the construction taking place here, so for now we’ll continue to look for updates.

Disney Resorts

Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort

The new Disney Vacation Club Villas in the Big Pine Key building are finally complete! We got to see a first look at one of the completed rooms and all we can say is: wow.

Reservations can be booked now for your stay in the updated studio and 2-bedroom villas.

Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort

Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is getting an upgrade! But, that unfortunately means the end of the Spirit of Aloha Dinner Show and the theater where guests could get their luau on.

The Spirit of Aloha dinner show is no more.

In its place will be a brand new expansion featuring new guest rooms, dining options, and merchandise locations! Construction is expected to be completed in late 2024.

Those are the biggest construction updates from this week — be sure to stay tuned to DFB for the latest park changes and more!

Don’t forget that Disney World is still requiring guests to book park pass reservations in addition to having valid theme park admission — you can check out summer park pass availability here!

If you don’t want to waste precious time waiting in line for your favorite attractions, consider purchasing Disney Genie+ — the new way to skip standby lines at several rides throughout the parks. Less time in line means more time to ride other attractions!
