Aerial Look at Refurbishment of Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park

Twitter user @bioreconstruct has shared new aerial photos of Disney’s Blizzard Beach water park, which is currently closed for refurbishment. We recently saw a large crane at the park, and caught a glimpse at the laydown yard for the undisclosed construction project.

The clearing in the photo above is the laydown yard, which is an area outside the active construction site where tools, materials, and equipment are stored. The arrow at the right points to a sidewalk on Buena Vista Drive, which is where we stood to see the staging area. The arrows at the center point to some areas of refurbishment.

Here is a closer look at the yard. A few vehicles were parked there at the time of bioreconstruct’s photos.

Some construction materials sat closer to the woods.

Scaffolding is up all around this waterslide, which appears to be Teamboat Springs.

In these wider shots, we can see the yellow crane. It is to the left in the photo above.

A recent permit filed by Walt Disney Imagineering implies they may be creating a new attraction but this is not confirmed.

Blizzard Beach was originally scheduled to reopen in March. Disney later extended the refurbishment of the water park through May. May has come and gone, and the Walt Disney World calendar doesn’t list any times for the park through December 10, though it may reopen before that.
