REVIEW: Disney World Turned Brunch Into a Treat And We Are HERE For It!

There are a lot of ways to celebrate the mom in your life in Disney World right now!

Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa

Disney Springs is hosting some limited-time offerings with photo-ops and a special mailbox to send your mom a note, and — one of our favorite ways to celebrate, you ask? Well, FOOD of course! And, Disney has A LOT of ’em! So far, we’ve tried a ROSE-SCENTED cupcake, a dessert trio, a donut LOADED with frosting, and more. And, now we’re headed to Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa to try out a returning treat that features CHAMPAGNE!

The Grand Floridian is home to Gasparilla Island Grill, which is where we found the Mother’s Day Mimosa Cake! This treat is a yellow sponge cake with mimosa mousse butter crème and a white chocolate “glass” slipper. That’s right, this beauty features one of our favorite brunch drinks IN TREAT FORM! We tried this treat last year and really enjoyed it, so we got it again to see if it’s as good as we remembered!

Mimosa Cake

When it comes to looks and ingredients, this treat hasn’t changed one bit from what we remember last year. She’s still GORGEOUS! But, what about the taste?

The treat was surprisingly light and easy to eat. And, if you’re not a fan of champagne or alcohol, don’t worry! We didn’t find that the mimosa mousse tasted much like champagne at all (a disappointment for those who were hoping it did), but it still has the brightness of the bubbly beverage. We mostly tasted orange zest and extract mixed in with the creamy mousse. The buttercream on top also isn’t weighed down by a ton of sugar, so it balances well with the cake and mousse.

Inside the cake

Note that the cake is served cold, so the citrus flavors combine with the chill to make for a refreshing bite. The “glass” slipper is white chocolate and is a nice garnish, but we thought that it was a little too much for us to eat at once.

Our only downside? The treat melts fast, so the purple coloring and “glass slipper” will pay the price if you waste any time before eating it.

It melted fast!

All in all, this treat was a winner for us once again! If you like citrus flavors or champagne, then you’ll probably enjoy this treat too — just bear in mind that it does contain some traces of alcohol.

It costs $7.99 and can easily be shared between 2 to 3 people, so it’s a pretty good deal! But, it won’t stick around much longer — it’s only available through May 8th! So, be sure to stop by to give it a try if you’re visiting, and stay tuned to DFB for more of the latest Disney food news and updates!
