If you didn’t know, Disney’s BoardWalk is getting a TON of major changes in the next few years! The lobby will get a new look, there’s a new sandwich shop coming to town, and some things are being removed.

One major change is that a NEW table service restaurant is coming to the BoardWalk! It’s called The Cake Bake Shop by Gwendolyn Rogers and it’s expected to open in 2023. There are already a couple of locations in Indiana, so we have an idea of what this new spot will be like. And, we want to talk about why this might just be the PERFECT spot for small events at Disney World!
The Cake Bake Shop will have both sweet and savory menus, as well as afternoon tea service! Disney says that it will feature a “whimsical atmosphere that complements the magic of the idyllic charm of Disney’s BoardWalk that guests know and love.” Sounds fancy, right?!

If the menu mimics what is available at the other locations, we can expect to see things like fun cakes, pies, ice cream, French pastries and more on the dessert menu. As for the savory menu, there could be things like quiche, sandwiches, pasta, seafood, and more. And, there is an extensive drink menu as well!

But, they also have an afternoon tea service coming to their Disney World location! Their other locations have tea services with things like scones, finger sandwiches, and mini desserts, which sound pretty ideal for a little party, if you ask us!

On The Cake Bake Shop’s Instagram, there are several posts showing bridal showers, birthday parties, baby showers, and other small events. According to their website, The Cake Bake Shop does host private events at their other locations, with private dining rooms available, so we’re curious to see if this will be the case at their location in Disney World!
Even if the events aren’t private, we can imagine this will be THE spot to book for small gatherings to celebrate different occasions! Between the whimsical decor, signature cocktails, and shareable fancy foods, there won’t be many other places like this one in Disney World.

Plus, since it’s not inside of the parks, no one would need a park ticket to come celebrate! It’s also very accessible — it’s super easy to walk to the BoardWalk area from the surrounding hotels, like Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resorts or The Walt Disney World Swan, Dolphin, and Swan Reserve hotels.
