You might not need a face mask for your next flight to Disney World. The CDC recently extended the federal face mask mandate on public transportation, but a Florida judge ruled this mandate unlawful. Since then, the TSA has stated that it will NOT enforce the mandate on public transportation. So what does that mean for your individual flight?

The CDC is still recommending that people wear face masks on transportation, but this will not be enforced. As a result of this decision, many individual airlines have lifted their own mask mandates. Take a look at which airlines no longer have mask mandates here!

A federal judge in Florida ruled that the face mask mandate on public transportation was unlawful, as a result of a July 2021 case against the mandate. In response, the TSA confirmed that they would not enforce the mandate on public transportation (which had been recently extended to last through May 3rd of this year).

There have been 5 extensions of the face mask mandate on public transportation. According to USA Today, several airlines and other travel officials have repeatedly requested that these restrictions be eased. The mandate has been removed now, effective immediately, which has prompted many airlines to adjust their own policies.

Here’s a list of all the airlines that have changed their face mask policy so far (note that these changes are effective immediately):

• American Airlines — Face masks are no longer required for customers and employees at US airports and on domestic flights.
• Delta Air Lines — Masks are optional for passengers in US airports and onboard airplanes.
• United Airlines — Masks are no longer required on domestic flights, on select international flights, or at US airports.
• Southwest Airlines — Masks are optional for passengers and employees.
• Alaska Airlines — Masks are optional in US airports and on aircraft.
• JetBlue Airways — Masks are optional in airport terminals and onboard planes.
• Frontier Airlines — Masks are optional for passengers and employees in the US. For international travel, the requirements depend on the arrival and departure countries’ regulations.
• Spirit Airlines — Masks are optional on flights for passengers and employees.
• Hawaiian Airlines — Masks are optional for passengers and employees.
• Sun County Airlines — Masks are optional for passengers and employees.
• Avelo Airlines — Masks are optional for passengers and employees.
• Breeze Airways — Masks are optional for passengers and employees.
