A Full List of CLOSURES that Could Impact Your Disney World Vacation Next Week

It’s time for a NEW update on everything that’s NOT going to be available next week in Disney World!

Expedition Everest

Since Disney is continually updating and refurbishing its parks and hotels, you’re likely to see at least a few things that are temporarily closed during your upcoming trip. Check out our complete list here to see what’s going to be closed in Disney World next week.

Let’s start out the list with Magic Kingdom.

Magic Kingdom

The Walt Disney World Railroad is still closed in Magic Kingdom. In case you haven’t been to Disney World in a while, you should know that this closure has been ongoing for the last couple of years.

Walt Disney World Railroad

Disney has done some work on the trains, but a major reason for the closure is construction on the upcoming TRON: Lightcycle Run roller coaster. Because of construction on that ride, the stretch of railroad tracks from Fantasyland to the Main Street, U.S.A. station has been removed

Some tracks are missing right now.

We don’t have an opening date for the TRON roller coaster yet, but we’re expecting the Railroad to remain closed at least until construction there is completed. We’ll keep an eye out for specific opening dates for both of these attractions!

Check out a video of the TRON roller coaster testing here!

Disney’s Animal Kingdom

In Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Expedition Everest is closed for refurbishments. Right now, this ride is scheduled to be closed through all of April on Disney’s refurbishments calendar, and it’s gone from the calendar starting May 1st (which means it should be open then).

There’s no line for Connect Four!

Previously, Disney’s website said Expedition Everest should reopen in mid-April, but recently that language was removed. Now, it just says that the ride is “currently closed for refurbishment” with no end date. A Cast Member that we spoke to in the park said that part of the refurbishments were some major software updates, and they were hoping Expedition Everest would reopen in a couple of weeks.

We’re ready for the return!

Finding Nemo: The Musical is closed as well. Some of the signs for this show have been covered up in Animal Kingdom. When the musical returns, it’ll actually be reimagined with a new plot and characters, and it’ll be called Finding Nemo: The Big Blue…and Beyond!

This updated show is all about Finding Nemo‘s sequel, Finding Dory! Disney recently provided an update on the show’s opening timeline, saying that it should debut in the next few months.

EPCOT

Souk-Al-Magreb, a gift shop in the Morocco pavilion of EPCOT’s World Showcase, is closed right now.

Souk-Al-Magreb

This gift shop disappears from the refurbishment calendar on April 24th, 2022, so it’s possible that the store will reopen on that day! But Souk-Al-Magreb has disappeared and then returned to the calendar in the past, so we don’t know for sure. We’ll keep an eye out for more updates on this shop.

Disney’s Hollywood Studios

A couple of long-term closures are continuing in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The Voyage of the Little Mermaid show is closed, and it doesn’t have a reopening date yet.

Voyage of the Little Mermaid

The nighttime show Fantasmic! is also closed at this time. This fan-favorite show will come back sometime in 2022, but Disney hasn’t given a more specific timeline yet.

Fantasmic!

When Fantasmic! returns, the show will look a little bit different, with new characters and stunts.

Disney World Water Parks

Disney’s Blizzard Beach water park is closed right now. Disney hasn’t announced when it will reopen, and the calendar does not show any opening times for the park through the beginning of June (which is as far as the calendar goes right now).

However, Typhoon Lagoon (Disney’s other water park) is open at this time!

Disney World Hotels

Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa

Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa is still open, but construction has begun on 200 new DVC Resort Studios in the Big Pine Key building, so you might see some construction walls up on your next visit to this hotel.

If you want to stay in the new rooms, you can book your reservations now (even if you aren’t a DVC member). The rooms, which have a Mary Poppins Returns theme, are expected to be ready in the summer of 2022.

Hotel Pool Refurbishments

Some Disney World hotel pools are currently closed, so be sure to see if any of these closures will affect your upcoming vacation. At Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, the Martinique Village pool is closed for refurbishment. The pool is expected to reopen in mid-April 2022. Other pools at this hotel are still available for guests, including the Fuentes del Morro Pool.

The last time we stopped by this hotel, we saw that the Fuentes del Morro Splash Pad is still closed.

Fuentes del Morro Water Play Area

The Cozy Cone Pool at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort is closed as well. Disney has said it will reopen sometime in mid-April 2022, although they did not give a specific reopening date.

No Cozy Cones here!

Art of Animation has a couple of other pools for guests to use in the meantime, like the Flippin’ Fins Pool and Big Blue Pool. The Righteous Reef Playground area in the Finding Nemo section of Art of Animation is currently closed for some refurbishments.

At Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge, the Samawati Springs Pool is closed. It will remain closed through April 2022. Guests at this hotel can head to the Uzima Springs Pool (also located at this hotel) instead.
