TRON Lightcycle / Run has been under construction for years at Magic Kingdom in Disney World.
We’ve been tracking its steady progress, and recently saw parts of the canopy go up, but we still don’t know when the ride will open. We recently got a closer look at the progress taking place on the ride, and now Disney has released another new video showing the next phase of ride testing!
You will soon see ride vehicles on the track over at TRON in Tomorrowland as the next phase of ride testing begins! This is known as the “push/pull” process, where sections of the train are slowly moved through the entire ride track.
Once the track is ready, trains will begin launch tests at TRON at incremental speeds, with the team eventually working their way up to full-speed launches. This ride testing WILL be visible to people visiting Magic Kingdom, so prepare to see some vehicles on the track soon!
After that testing is done and the ride has worked its way up to full-speed launches, test weights will be used on the ride vehicles.
Several months later, once they’ve done some additional testing and they’re approved for ridership, the TRON team will start putting their ride team members on board, according to Executive Ride Engineer Jerold Kaplan.
Check out the full behind-the-scenes video below!
We’re so excited to see some progress happening on the ride, but we still don’t know the timeline for when it will open. The mention of “several months later” in the video has us thinking it is going to be a while! But stay tuned to DFB, because we’ll let you know as soon as more information is released.
