Why It Might Be HARDER to Fly to Disney World for Spring Break

Let’s be honest, the airline industry can feel a little confusing. Even a well-seasoned traveler can’t fully predict what American Airlines has planned, or what Southwest Airlines will announce. Airplane travel keeps us on our toes, that’s for sure!

Speaking of American Airlines, it seems like flights are being cut in 2022. Let’s take a look at what’s going on!

According to the Orlando Business Journal, there have been several changes and cuts to American Airlines’s schedule for March 2022. These changes happened during the week of January 10th, where multiple flights appeared to have been cut when compared to the previous week — a 4% decrease overall.

Airline travel takes a lot of planning!

According to an American Airlines spokesperson who spoke with the Orlando Business Journal, these spring break flight modifications “were intended to better align the carrier’s resources with demand.” Additionally, American Airlines stated that their airline “offers the most departures in the month of March among the major U.S. carriers.”

It seems like other airlines are also adjusting their schedules for this March. The Orlando Business Journal reported that major airlines like United and Delta also cut hundreds of March flights during the week of January 10th, though American Airlines seems to have dropped significantly more flights.

Always double-check your flight information before you leave!

It has been reported that American Airlines dropped 10,621 flights in total, and seating capacity saw a 4% decrease as well. Typically, spring break is one of the busiest times of year for the state of Florida, but perhaps the pandemic is causing passengers to reconsider their plans this year.

Face masks are currently required on all airplanes

If you’re planning a trip to Disney this March, you might want to check out the flight availability as soon as you can. We’ll continue to keep our eyes out for any changes or updates to the situation, so stay tuned.
