Supplies:

Let’s start by grabbing our supplies. You’ll need:

  • Tulle fabric, in pink, light blue, and dark blue
  • Thick gold ribbon
  • Thin gold ribbon
  • Scissors
  • Measuring tape

Instructions:

To make the skirt, follow these instructions:

  • Using your measuring tape, measure around your waist where you want the top of the skirt to sit.
  • Cut two strips of the thin gold ribbon to the waist measurement you just took. Set these aside.
  • Taking the thick gold ribbon, measure out the length of your waist PLUS 40-50 inches (so you can tie your skirt in the back!). Set this aside.
  • Using your measuring tape again, measure from your waist down to where you want the bottom of the skirt to be — then double this measurement.
  • Now, grab your tulle and begin cutting strips. Like, A LOT of strips. They should be 6 inches wide by however long you want the skirt to be. Repeat until you have a big ol’ pile of tulle!
  • Wrap the thick gold ribbon around your waist, and tie a knot at each end where the two ends meet at your back.

  • Next, you’ll want to layer your tulle strips in groups by grabbing a few.
  • Grab your first grouping and fold it in half lengthwise, then place the fold underneath the thick gold ribbon as shown in the photo above. Taking the bottom of the tulle, fold it up over the gold ribbon and through the little loop at the top. Pull tight!
  • This part is up to you — keep adding groups of tulle until your first layer is as voluminous as you’d like it!

  • For the next color layer, you’ll keep repeating the process but will cut these strips to be about four inches from the top.
  • Repeat the same step, but this time cutting the strips to be eight inches from the top.
  • Once your skirt is nice and fluffy, take your thin gold ribbon, weave it through the tulle knots at the top and tie at each end!
