Florida COVID-19 Numbers Drop to the Lowest Since July

There have been many different reports of COVID-19 levels in Florida, with some recent numbers reporting a rise in cases.

Theme parks like Disney World and Universal Orlando responded to the reports with updated mask mandates and limited capacities. Recently, it was reported that the Florida COVID-19 numbers are starting to decline. Here’s what those numbers are looking like now.

As far as new COVID-19 cases, there were 2,505 new cases reported in Florida on Wednesday, October 13th, which put the week’s average of new cases at 2,870. That’s the first time the numbers have hit below 3,000 since July 7th of this year.

The Orlando Sentinel reported that Florida is dropping in the list of COVID-19 cases per capita, and even fell to be the second-to-last in the country on October 13th. According to the Sentinel, “Florida still ranks near the top in deaths per capita.”

In Florida, 3,153 people were hospitalized for COVID-19 (as of writing), which is “a 24.9% decrease from the previous week but slightly more than the 3,307 hospitalized on Tuesday,” according to the Sentinel.
