It’s springtime in Disney World!
A BIG part of the Disney spring season is the EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival. This event features beautiful gardens, yummy eats, and even some plant-based presentations. Today, we got to check out one of these little experiences!
We were strolling through EPCOT near the Imagination Pavilion when we spotted an area set up for the Growing the Future presentation.
Times were listed on a nearby sign. Today, there were six different times that guests could stop in for the presentation.
Growing the Future is an educational presentation about growing practices. It’s available right now as a part of the EPCOT festival!
The area has dots on the ground and at presentation time, guests were directed to the dots to stay socially distanced while they learn!
When we arrived to watch, a Cast Member told us that they do a few different presentations. Ours had a focus on soil!
When the event began, two botanists from Science from Scientists came to teach us a little bit about the composition of soil.
They used a Murata soil-measuring machine to measure the composition of the soil. They basically just stuck the device into the soil and it gave them a read on composition!
We also got to learn about soil density and how some plants need different things like potassium, nitrogen, and phosphorus to help them in different ways. SO neat.
Some of us here on the DFB team have less-than-green thumbs. If the same is true for you, maybe this presentation could give you a helping hand!
After the botanists were done teaching us, they handed out little paper bags that contained a notebook, colored pencils, and a booklet with beans and a flower!
There are even directions for growing the beans!
We had a LOT of fun watching this quick ten-minute presentation and we learned some too! These experiences are the kind of unique edutainment that makes EPCOT so fun! As always, stay tuned to DFB for all the latest Disney updates.
