What It’s Like to Ride an Attraction in Disneyland With Current Restrictions

Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park have officially reopened at Disneyland Resort!

Disneyland’s Sleeping Beauty Castle

And today, after a FULL year of the parks being closed, we were finally able to get on some of our favorite Disneyland rides. But, the rules about outdoor lines, indoor ride time limits, and other theme park restrictions in California are a bit different than they are in Florida. So, what’s it really like to ride an attraction in Disneyland right now? Here’s what we experienced today!

Queues

According to the updated California theme park guidelines, all queues for attractions or rides must be outdoors. The guidelines also note that there should be plexiglass installed to ensure that there are at least six feet between groups.

Many ride queues in Disneyland’s theme parks were already outdoors, or mostly outdoors, so that wasn’t a dramatic change for some rides. But other rides did in fact have larger indoor queues, like Indiana Jones Adventure and some others.

Time for an Adventure!

When we visited today, all lines for rides were outdoors, in compliance with the guidelines.

Look for the Cast Members with the signs!

We also found social distancing markers throughout the queue areas, much like what we’ve seen over at Disney World.

Make sure to abide by the ground markers.

Additionally, many attractions also had plexiglass installed in their queue areas to ensure distancing. Again, this is not really too different from what we’ve seen over in Disney World.

Ride Vehicle Loading

Much like when Disney World first reopened, Disneyland Cast Members were loading vehicles with 1 party in instances where social distancing could not be maintained.

The queue for Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run.

In larger ride vehicles, more than one party was being loaded. But, either plexiglass had been installed on the ride vehicle, and/or several rows of space were being left between different parties.

Plexiglass on the Indiana Jones Adventure ride vehicles.

We’ve seen this changing a bit over at Disney World, where more rides are now seating guests in every row or seating more guests than before. But, at Disneyland, quite a bit of space was generally being left between different parties.

Indoor Ride Time Limitation

California’s theme park guidance also specifies that all indoor rides must be limited to no more than 15 minutes. That’s generally not a problem as many of Disneyland’s rides are outdoors, don’t spend that much time indoors, or generally are not that long.

Rise of the Resistance is a pretty long ride!

One of the attractions that is quite long though is Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance. To follow state guidelines, the ride experience was shorted a bit by cutting out the first pre-show. We walked right through the room with Rey and BB-8.

We skipped the first pre-show and moved on to this room.

The ride kicked off with the transport vehicle, and from there, the only difference was the addition of plexiglass to separate parties.

Plexiglass on the Rise of the Resistance ride vehicles.

It was still just as exciting as it was before!

Overall

Overall, many of the same things we’ve seen at Disney World are being utilized in Disneyland including social distancing markers, plexiglass, and limited capacity. But, things are ever so slightly different since queues must be outdoors and indoor rides must not be longer than 15 minutes.

We’ll make sure to keep updating you today!

We’ll continue to keep an eye out for any other unique aspects of Disneyland’s reopening and keep you informed about everything going on during this historic time!

PHOTOS: Vintage-Style Mural Replaces Tomorrowland Theater Sign at Disneyland

tomorrowland-mural-1

Disneyland guests can usually visit the Tomorrowland Theater for some air conditioning, plus the Star Wars: Path of a Jedi film or sneak peeks of upcoming Disney movies. However, due to physical distancing requirements, the theater is currently closed. As such, the small billboard on the theater which usually advertises what is playing has been replaced with a spacey mural. The mural is dark blue with circles and squares of color, reminiscent of the 1960’s era of Tomorrowland. Keep checking […]

PHOTOS: An Unexpected Souvenir Is Selling Out FAST in Disney World

“Adventure is OUT THERE!” And it’s in the air, too, as the insanely colorful, clever, and CUTE Up-themed Balloons have arrived in Disney World!

Up Balloon!

You may remember that we first spotted these over in Disneyland Resort’s Disney California Adventure… and it was LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT.

So we were thrilled when we found them today in Disney Springs on the east coast side of things!!

Up Balloons in Disney Springs

Of course, they’re every bit as neat as we remember… The unique two-part design of the balloon features Carl’s house from Up on the bottom half, while the top half boasts that signature bundle of balloons carrying the house away to Paradise Falls!

Up Balloon

Here’s another closeup with Carl and everyone’ favorite Wilderness Explorer, Russel.

New ‘Up’ balloon!

Oh, and did you know that these balloons LIGHT UP?!?

How cute is this balloon?

Now, as you can tell, there weren’t too many in the beautiful balloon bundle in Disney Springs. The two you see below, according to the cast member, were the only two left for today as of this afternoon.

ONLY TWO LEFT!

He also mentioned that they sold out within ONE HOUR yesterday. So, if you just so happen to see one in Disney World, it’s best to ACT FAST if you want one… before they float away!!

This Is the ONLY Place in Disneyland to Get a Mickey Pretzel Right Now.

ICYMI, we’re in DISNEYLAND for the historic Reopening Day!! And we’ve been checking out the opening day happenings, like crowds, attractions, and more.

Welcome Back to Disneyland!!

In fact, we were able to check things out a little earlier in the week during a preview to wave hello to our Disney pals and experience ALL the magic of being back in the park! Oh, and we’ve been doing some snacking along the way, too. 😉 And when it comes to classic Disney snacks, one that comes to mind is the Mickey Pretzel!

The thing is… Mickey isn’t so easy to find in the park (in Pretzel form, that is).

Where can you find THIS in Disneyland right now?

In speaking to a cast member, we learned that — as far as they knew — the cart in Frontierland across from Big Thunder Mountain is the ONLY PLACE in the park serving them right now!

Cart in Frontierland

Of course, we’ll be keeping an eye out for more. In the meantime, we’re getting our fill of Disneyland Churros, Mickey Beignets, and the famous Monte Christo (which, we discovered, has changed…).

How has Disneyland’s Monte Cristo changed? Find out here!

So there’s no shortage of Disney snacking goin’ on here in Disneyland! We’ll continue to keep you up to speed on the HAPPIEST of ALL HAPPENINGS as Disneyland is reopen to guests once again!

Is the Mickey Pretzel on your list of favorite snacks? Please let us know with a comment!
