Dear Disney, You Just Made the BIGGEST Food Mistake

Guys. We HAVE to talk about the Everest Base Camp Macaroon.

That’s an Insta-worthy treat!

It popped up at Thirsty River Bar in Disney’s Animal Kingdom earlier this month, and we were OBSESSED. This spin on Disneyland’s iconic Matterhorn Macaroon tasted SO GOOD. It was coconut, chocolate, and green tea paradise, and we just couldn’t get enough.

If that isn’t convincing enough, here’s a quick run-down of this snack: THREE mountain tops made of chocolate and coconut macaroons. There’s also a “snowcap” of white chocolate and a flurry of snowflake sprinkles on a base of green tea chocolate crumbs. It’s $5.99 and super shareable!

YUM!

Or…guess we should say it WAS $5.99 and super shareable. Because sadly, the Everest Base Camp Macaroon is now gone. That’s right, friends: if you didn’t get the chance to try what was easily one of our favorite snacks of 2021, it’s now too late.

Farewell, Everest Base Camp Macaroon

WHY is this beloved macaroon gone so soon?! There’s no telling, really. Many of Disney’s treats do seem to be seasonal or limited, and unfortunately, this was one of those cases. But boy did we all love it when it was here.

Everest Base Camp Macaroon

Our readers on Instagram called it “phenomenal” and a “need” (and we totally agreed). Many of you were so happy to see a version of Disneyland’s Matterhorn Macaroon on the east coast! But sadly, we’ve gotta let you know that the Everest Base Camp Macaroon is no longer. And Disney, we’re sorry to say we think that was a mistake.

There were even green tea crumbles!

Why? Well, so few people got to try it! We had so many readers tell us how excited they were to sample this new treat. One reader said, “Hoping to visit in November, I’ll be getting those for sure,” while another mentioned that she was “adding this to our list!” Except neither of them will get to try it, because it’s gone. 😞

We MISS you!

Now, as one reader pointed out, Animal Kingdom has been killin’ it with their snack game lately. There are even some special treats available for Earth Month right now! So yes, you do still have plenty of options for tasty eats in the park. But nothing will quite match the Everest Base Camp Macaroon.

PLEASE bring it back, Disney!! Stay tuned to DFB — we’ll keep bringing you the latest Disney news!
