Typically, a few Disney attractions are closed at any given time for scheduled maintenance.
Here at DFB, we like to make sure you’re EXTRA prepared for your Disney trip — and that means knowing which attractions will be closed! So here’s the refurbishment update for Disney World from March 8th through March 14th.
Magic Kingdom Refurbishments
Hall of Presidents
The show closed in January, and Disney hasn’t announced when it’ll open back up. But we’ll keep you posted as we learn more!
Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover
Most recently, that reopening date was moved from March 1st to April 3rd. We’re hoping we’ll see this ride open then! We saw REAL people testing the PeopleMover recently, so we have our fingers crossed that’s a good sign. We’ll keep you posted with any updates!
Walt Disney World Railroad
Speaking of attractions that have been closed for what feels like forever…the Walt Disney World Railroad has been closed for over 2 YEARS! It became unavailable as construction on TRON: Lightcycle Run blocked the tracks.
We’ll have to see significant progress on that TRON construction before the train’s path is cleared and then it can run once again. And considering the TRON construction may not wrap until 2022, it may be a while! Until then, we’ll snap pictures of the train station and dream about our next ride on these rails.
Swiss Family Treehouse
The Swiss Family Treehouse is closing on March 12th for a brief refurbishment. The work should be quick — it’s expected to reopen on March 26th!
We’ll keep you posted with any further updates on this refurb!
Animal Kingdom Refurbishments
Kali River Rapids
Disney tends to close its water rides for refurbishment in the winter when guests don’t want to get wet in the colder weather! Such is the case for Kali Rivers Rapids, which is currently down for its typical seasonal maintenance.
The attraction closed in January and is scheduled to reopen on April 3rd, 2021.
It’s Tough to Be a Bug
It’s Tough to Be a Bug is undergoing a SUPER brief refurbishment next week. It’ll be closed from March 8th through March 11th.
We’ll keep you posted if these dates change!
Rose and Crown Dining Room
But if you’re craving some British eats, Yorkshire County Fish Shop and the Rose and Crown Pub are still open!
Disney World Resort Refurbishments
Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is undergoing lots of construction! We’ve already seen new Cast Member costumes as parts of the resort undergo a Moana-inspired transformation. Disney recently shared a FIRST LOOK at the new Moana rooms and opened up reservations!
Over by the pool, Kiki Tikis Splash Play Area is also closed for refurbishment through March 2021! The other projects around the resort are expected to wrap up this summer.
And over at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, the Big Blue Pool is closed for construction. It should reopen in early April!
One last pool is undergoing refurbishment! The Paddock Pool waterslide at Saratoga Springs Resort and Spa is temporarily closed.
The rest of the pool remains open in the meantime!
That’s all for our refurbishment update this week! Stay tuned to DFB — we’ll keep bringing you the latest updates on closures and other Disney news.
