PHOTOS: Disney’s Polynesian Resort Begins Massive Entryway Refurb with Cranes and Blocked Entrances

Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort in Walt Disney World will receive some major refurbishments this year!

Disney postponed reopening much of the resort in order to finish construction projects on guest rooms, the main lobby, and the entryway. The guest rooms will receive a new Moana-inspired theme and the concept art for the massive entryway overhaul was released recently. We’ve been stopping by the resort frequently to see the construction progress and how it is affecting visiting guests.

When we pulled into the Polynesian, signs were blocking off the road leading to the entryway and the monorail station.

There were more blocked entrance roads and cranes have moved in to help with the entryway overhaul…

… and the walkway leading to the entrance underneath the monorail was blocked off.

Guests can still access the main lobby through other routes. There are detour signs located throughout the Polynesian’s property to help you find your way around the construction!

Non-DVC members are currently unable to stay at the resort, but they can still visit the lobby, gift shops, and dining. Inside, temporary walls surrounding construction areas are placed around the guest rooms and other areas. Disney directs guests to alternative routes and entryways.

This is only the beginning of the Polynesian’s transformation! The refurb is scheduled to wrap up in the summer of 2021. We’ll be back real soon to give you more updates and how it affects those who wish to visit the property.
