Alert NBC Fans! There’s A NEW Sandy Claws Souvenir in Disney World’s Magic Kingdom!

What’s this? It’s Halloween season! And that means it’s the season of spooky Halloween decorations, amazing food and drinks, and multiple viewings of The Nightmare Before Christmas!

Nightmare Before Christmas Plush

And we’ve just discovered some figures that have us singing “This is Halloween!”

We found these figures at The Art of Disney in Magic Kingdom. The Sandy Claws figure is BRAND NEW. It features Jack dressed up as Sandy Claws with a bag of gifts. He’s handing a present to a child beside a Christmas tree. Um…kid…you probably shouldn’t open that! There’s probably a snake — or something worse — inside!

Jack as Santa Figure from The Art of Disney

The level of detail is gorgeous! We love Jack’s joyful face (and that textured Sandy Claws beard) as he gets to take over a holiday other than his usual Halloween. Even the detail on the gift packaging is perfect. This figure, which costs $140, might make for a nice collector’s item for Nightmare Before Christmas fans.

We also spotted this PRECIOUS Jack and Sally Figure. This figure was available last year, and now it’s back for $140.00. The details on it are also really nice, especially with Jack and Sally’s outfits. We also like the pumpkins encircling the base of the figure. (Also, ignore that knife — that’s not Sally trying to behead Jack, but a figure in the background!)

Jack and Sally from Nighmare Before Christmas Figure

Both of these figures would make a nice addition to anyone’s Halloween decor this year. But we think they’re nice enough to leave up all year round, too!

We’ll keep an eye out for more NIGHTMARE-ISH (see what we did there?) decor in the parks and let you know what we find!

See the piece of merch we found that only real Nightmare Before Christmas fans will get!

What’s New at EPCOT! A Secret Wall Crawl, an EPCOT Transformation Update, and a NEW Food and Wine Festival Booth!

Welcome back, DFB friends! We’re here with another What’s New at EPCOT!

EPCOT

And, we’ve got plenty of construction, food, and merchandise updates, so let’s dive right on in!

EPCOT Entertainment Update

The Chase Visa Photo Spot

While many experiences have been modified or unavailable around the parks, the Photo Spot for Disney chase Visa Cardholders is still open! Characters might not be available for photos inside at the moment. However, there are some BOMB walls that you can pose from (and for FREE, if you’re a cardholder)!

Chase Visa Photo Spot

While you can blast off like you would on Mission: SPACE…

Chase Visa Photo

…you can also take a trip on the Monorail with your best pals for an Instagrammable snap!

Chase Visa Photo

Although we love seeing spots like Space Mountain glistening in the Florida sun…

Chase Visa Photo

…there’s just something so timeless about Spaceship Earth!

Chase Visa Photo

You can pose in front of a few colorful prisms that have a 3D effect like the actual Spaceship Earth…

Chase Visa Photo

…or have a simple background for a super cute photo you can use as your profile picture. Instead of doing a wall crawl around the parks, you can do a full photo shoot in the Photo Spot! ;D

EPCOT Construction Update

The EPCOT Transformation is still moving forward, despite the previous closures and construction halts in Disney World. And, while Disney has prioritized a few of its projects and quietly moved forward with new ones, we’re keeping an eye on the construction happening in EPCOT right now!

EPCOT Transformation

Previously, spots like the Electric Umbrella and Fountain View Cafe closed down to make room for a redesigned entrance of the parks. Even though not every project has seen much progress…

EPCOT Transformation

…other attractions like the Guardians of the Galaxy coaster are pushing forward for their hopeful 2021 debut.

Guardians of the Galaxy Construction

Since Mouse Gear is getting a new look right now, the old location is closed off while construction continues on the shop (but there’s a cute li’l playground right outside)…

Mouse Gear Playground

…but we can’t wait to see the new store that Disney brings to life as part of the EPCOT Transformation!

Mouse Gear Construction

You might have forgotten that these 4 projects are still moving forward in Disney World!

EPCOT Merchandise Update

Mouse Gear

In the meantime, though, you can hop over to the temporary Mouse Gear location to look at apparel, accessories, toys, and other souvenirs for the whole family!

We’re still not over all that glitter on the witchy ears that look like they’re channeling some major black magic for $29.99.

Flavors from Fire Booth

Although some things right now might feel like you’re going “out of frying pan and into the fire,” we’ve got some GREAT news about the Food and Wine Festival. Flavors from Fire is back again this year with treats cooked, baked, and served for guests to enjoy!

Flavors from Fire

And, we had to get EVERY food item off the menu to share with you guys! (Don’t they all just look sooo good??)

Flavors from Fire Food

The names are a little different this year, since the booth is sponsored by the NFL on ESPN now! You can try The Corned Beef Corner Route with lots of melty beer-cheese fondue

…and the S’mores Whoopie Pie-lon‘s toasted and gooey marshmallow.

Although the Flavors from Fire has plenty of other sips at the kiosk, we paired our feast with the Swine Brine with Jim Beam Bourbon.

PHOTOS: Spooktacular New Halloween Cropped Sweater Arrives at Disneyland Resort

A ghoulishly delightful sweater is now available just in time for Halloween because even though Oogie Boogie Bash is canceled, we can still celebrate. Unlike the popular Spirit Jerseys, this sweater has Disneyland written across the front and down the left-hand sleeve. A Mickey Mouse pumpkin adorns the right-hand side. The back of the sweater is plain black, allowing creative minds to decorate it any way they want. It’s available now at The Disney Dress Shop at the Downtown Disney […]

Welcome to a very exciting day here at the Universal Orlando Resort! Fall is in the air and we’re ready for a weekend full of frights. We started our day off at Universal Studios Florida, and found Halloween decorations had been added at the Universal Studios Store. Orange and black bunting and garland were draped from the ceiling in preparation for the Halloween festivities this weekend. Cafe La Bamba is also decorated, which means we could possibly be seeing this […]

Hello from a magically exciting day at the Magic Kingdom! The morning was bright, sunny, and perfectly beautiful, but the afternoon was quite stormy. Thankfully we got in plenty of fun before the weather turned. Let’s get started! We had a couple of construction projects to check in on […]

A Busy Saturday at Magic Kingdom – Wait Times, Mask Compliance, and More

If you’ve been seeing our posts about low wait times during this era of COVID concerns, or if you’re watching our Crowd Calendar, you probably know by now that weekends are busy. We’re seeing a big difference in crowds and wait times on the weekends at Magic Kingdom. Thankfully our Lines App makes it easy for you to save time and know which attractions to visit when, in real-time, as data adjusts throughout the day.

Let’s take a look at this is the first weekend with Halloween in full swing at Magic Kingdom.

Mask Compliance and Enforcement Still Going Strong at Disney

One concern many of us have when it gets busier at the parks is if it becomes challenging for physical distancing and mask compliance. During yesterday’s visit our team observed a handful of guests not wearing their masks properly. In each instance they observed a Cast Member asking them to wear the mask properly. We continue to see that physical distancing is best when there are floor markers.

Fantasyland Crowds 5:45pm on 9-19-20 (15 minutes before park closing)

Halloween Character Cavalcades Are Crowd Pleasers

We sometimes get asked on social media and our Liners chat for the schedule of character cavalcades at Magic Kingdom and other parks. The schedule is not published in order to deter guests from lining up and crowding in anticipation of the characters. With the new Halloween cavalcades we’ve seen more guests than before stopping to watch. For the most part physical distancing is still followed, but it does take some vigilance during the Halloween cavalcades.

Wait Times Do Not Drop Off as Dramatically With Shortened Hours

The last hour or two of park operations have typically always been a good time to get some rides in as wait times diminish. While we are seeing wait times still tapering off during the last hour, with park closing now moved back an hour the decrease in wait times is not as dramatic. Our team has observed a lot more people lingering in the park just before and after official park closing.

Extended Queue at Pirates of the Caribbean one hour before closing on 09-19-20

You can view the entire day’s worth of observed and Actual Wait Times from yesterday on our site. Our Liners can report their Actual Wait Times into the Lines app, helping to add real-time data. In the graph below you can see the Actual Wait Times on Pirates of the Caribbean yesterday by looking at the green dots.

Pirates of the Caribbean Wait Times on 09-19

In many cases there were longer wait times yesterday than during Labor Day Weekend. With Magic Kingdom getting busier on weekends, with shorter hours to boot, it is becoming increasingly important visit with a solid plan in place.

Subscribers to our Lines app get access to Expected Wait Times compared to Disney’s Posted Wait Times. With shorter hours this kind of information is even more helpful so you can maximize your day, knowing which attractions to visit when in order to have the shortest wait possible.

Disney World Website Page Noting FastPass+ Returning in January Likely An Error

With crowds increasing over the past few weeks in Disney World, we’ve been hearing from readers how much they hope FastPass+ returns in the coming months. And today we got a little surprise!

FastPass Mention on Disney World website — Screenshot 9-20-20

A page popped up on DisneyWorld.com discussing guests using FastPass+ for their trips in January and February. And you may have seen several reports that it meant FastPass+ was returning in just a few months.

FastPass mention on Disney World website — screen shot 9-20-20

But we want to clear up any confusion. This page may have been put up in error. Or it possibly may not yet have been updated with 2021 information. But there are several things that show this content is from 2019.

First, the page references the annual “Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival” as “returning in spring 2020.” These days, Epcot has returned to its original EPCOT, and is noted as so on all official Disney communication. And obviously an event can’t “return in spring 2020” any longer. So that language is clearly from last year.

Screen Shot by DFB 9-20-20

The page also currently talks about Happily Ever After, a fireworks show not currently happening in Magic Kingdom, as well as spa treatments and other events and options that currently aren’t on offer in Disney World.

Screen Shot by DFB 9-20-20

Finally, the photos used here have guests not wearing face masks. All of Disney’s current marketing materials show guests in masks, so this would be off-brand unless masks were suddenly not going to be required in the new year.

It’s our guess that this page was re-added to the Disney World website because it’s going to be edited and changed according to the options on offer for this coming New Year, but that the current information on the page is from 2019.

Does this mean that FastPass+ isn’t coming back in January — or before January for that matter? Not necessarily. We don’t have any confirmation in any direction about when/if FastPass+ will return to the parks. It could return next week, next month, or next year. What we do believe is that this particular page is showing erroneous content for this current date, and that it will be either taken down or updated accordingly.

As always, stay tuned to Disney Food Blog and join our newsletter to get all the news and updates as soon as they’re confirmed.
