The 3 Most Dangerous Things You Can Eat in Disney World!

It’s official! Disney World will begin to reopen on July 11th (so that means all the Mickey Bars you can eat!).

Although there are sweet and savory snacks that we could eat ALL DAY LONG, Disney actually has some risky eats that you’ll have to be careful trying!

You Can Eat the Whole Fish — Just Watch Those BONES!

While you’re walking around Disney’s Animal Kingdom from Pandora to DinoLand U.S.A. and back again to Asia, you’re probably going to be pretty worn out from all that world traveling. If you make your way over to Discovery Island, you can find Tiffins for a great meal and a place to relax.

Tiffins

“Tiffin” means a kind of meal or a vessel to carry your food in — so you’re quite literally taking a lunch break when you’re at the restaurant! Although there is plenty of lamb, beef, chicken, and tofu on the menu, you’re definitely going to want to take a look at the seafood section.

While you’ll find normal shrimp and market fish on the menu, you’ll also notice the Whole-fried Sustainable Fish.” And, Disney isn’t playing around, you guys!! It is actually an entire fish fried and served up on your plate AS IS (including those teeth and eyeballs).

Whole Fried Sustainable Fish

After you get past how your meal looks (sometimes right at you), the flavor of the fish is AH-MAZING. Although the menu just says “sustainable fish,” it’s been yellow snapper whenever we’ve visited Tiffins.

But, be careful when you’re eating! Since the whole fish is just fried and served to you, the bones are still intact inside! So, while you’re chewing, make sure to chew slowly and carefully (some of those bones are thin and sharp!). It may be tasty, but the Whole-fried Sustainable Fish is definitely a one of the more dangerous food items that you’ll need to be cautious of when you’re eating.

Whole Fried Sustainable Fish — Up Close

You can also find Whole Fried Fish on the menu at Jungle Navigation Co., LTD Skipper Canteen in Magic Kingdom. Same exact idea here but they seem to take the “whatever is fresh and sustainable” idea a bit more to heart.

We’ve been served one large yellow snapper before as well as two smaller snapper or two lionfish on past visits. If you’re interested in the whole fish at this location, be sure to ask what they have available that day to make sure it’s to your liking! When in Disney, try something unique, you know!! 😉

Your Meal Is on FIRE!!

When we say that Disney meals are on fire, we actually MEAN it over at Wine Bar George! Although we could normally eat three servings of Mac and Cheese Bites here, the Saganaki on Fire has quickly become one of our favorite eats at the restaurant!

Fire Cheese

The Vlahoriti cheese comes with a side of crostini for dipping (but we could totally just eat the cheese by itself tbh). When your server brings it out, the appetizer will be doused with Greek Metaxa liquor and set ablaze for you to enjoy!

Saganaki on Fire

While Wine Bar George would previously squeeze fresh lemon juice over the Saganaki to extinguish the flames, now you’re given the lemon to do it yourself. Obviously, anything flammable is dangerous, so you have to be VERY careful handling this dish.

You might want to put your hair back and roll up your sleeves to keep anything from catching on fire along with your cheese. Nobody wants singed hair to go along with their meal! ;D

The Allergy Guessing Game

Disney is top-notch when it comes to providing meals for guests with allergies and dietary restrictions (who knew plant-based items could be so GOOD?). The restaurants are all about letting guests know what is in their meals at Disney World. When you arrive, you can ask even ask them for an allergy menu that will list how each meal stacks up against the most common allergens.

However, many of their dishes already state what their ingredients are on the regular menus without guests even having to specifically ask for an allergy menu. But, when you’re visiting spots like Goofy’s Candy Co., the Main Street Confectionery, and The Ganachery, things can get a li’l tricky when it comes to allergies.

Goofy’s Candy Company Bakery Case

The treats in the bakery cases don’t list what they are made of, so you can’t be entirely sure if you’re choosing a snack that could cause guests with nut, milk, and other allergies to have problems.

However, you can ask one of the bakery Cast Members for a full list of ingredients in the treats to make sure you’re picking something that fits the needs of your party members.

Honorable Mention: Actually Spicy Fries

Okay, we’re talking about Disney World food — so that means spicy is a relative term. Disney doesn’t usually add too much heat to their snacks and meals (although we’re big fans of all things spicy). BUT, last year, we pleasantly encountered a surprise during Epcot’s Festival of the Holidays that set our taste buds on fire.

Shanghai Holiday Kitchen

The Shanghai Holiday Kitchen served up lots of eats like Pork and Veggie Egg Rolls and Beef Bao Buns, but we were HOOKED on the Chendu Street Fries. We took a bite expecting “Disney spicy” and before we knew it, we were reaching for some water! The chili oil used on these packed a SERIOUS heat punch — these were crazy good, y’all.

The sauce was similar to what you’d have with potstickers, but WAY hotter and drizzled all over the fries. Plus, the crunchy peanuts and green onions added even more crunch to the crispy fries. Trust us, these would have been WAY too hot for most guests who aren’t a fan of spice (not to mention an allergy hazard with the nuts!).

Although they might be a bit too spicy, we ABSOLUTELY hope they return for this year’s Festival of the Holidays since they were our favorite snack from the booths!

While these eats are slightly dangerous, it’s so much fun to try things that are more unique than the usual sundaes or chicken tenders. And, although Disney World might be the Most Magical Place on Earth, we like to add a little bit of risk in our vacations. 😉

These are the must-have eats you should have in Disney World in 2020!
