News: MORE DETAILS About Florida’s Alcohol Ban and How It Impacts Disney World!

In light of recent events, the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation has announced a statewide ban of on-premises alcohol consumption at bars, effective immediately.

Since we’re currently at Disney Springs, we’ve been able to speak with a few Cast Members to see what implications this order has on Disney World.

According to the Cast Members we spoke to, Orange County officials have said Disney Springs restaurants are still OK to serve alcohol — the only locations that are no longer being permitted to serve alcohol are locations that make less than 50% of their income from food sales. This is the result of an emergency order that was just signed into effect by the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation under the instruction of the Governor. This means VERY quickly, we spotted a number of locations begin to close their doors in Disney Springs.

Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar, which just reopened yesterday AND has a food menu has just closed down today (after we had just enjoyed a lovely cocktail there mere hours before!).

Guests were being allowed to finish their drinks when the order came in, but afterward, the restaurant closed down. The ruling states any business must close that will “derive more than 50 percent of gross revenue from the sale of alcoholic beverages.”

Hole in the Wall was still serving today since they’re connected to Raglan Road and Cookes of Dublin.

But other places like Dockside Margaritas, which doesn’t serve food or connect to a restaurant, have had to close.

Disney Springs’ pop-up bars have also shut down.

In response to an increase of coronavirus cases across the state, Florida Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings announced last week that face masks are now mandatory in public spaces. Through contact tracing, health officials have linked several cases to bars and nightclubs in Central Florida, which has led to this recent decision. We’ll continue to provide you with more updates as additional information becomes available!
