The Nisei Week Grand Parade was held in the Little Tokyo neighborhood in Los Angeles last Sunday, August 14, 2016. The theme of this year’s Nisei Week Japanese Festival is ‘Celebrating our Culture and Community,’ and is an extension of the 76 years the festival has been in existence.
This year the Disneyland Alumni Club helped celebrate the event parading with the Nisei Week Foundation Marching Band and Ondo Dancers, lead by alumni Richard Ferrin and Ted Yamada. The band played a wonderful medley of Mickey Mouse, Zip-a-de-do-da and it’s a small world. Also Michele Nagata choreographed the dancers to an original Disney theme music.
Marching Disneyland Alumni Club board members included Mark Keiser, Mark Eades and Mark Hickson (A.K.A. Mark 1, 2 and 3). Family fun for all!
