According to a Orlando Sentinel report, Disney Vacation Club, announced today that it is building new time-share units at Disney’s Polynesian Resort, the 42-year-old, tropically themed hotel on the Magic Kingdom monorail.

A Disney spokesperson did not say how many time-share units will be built. Construction has already started and is expected to be completed sometime in 2015. In addition to the time shares, Disney said it would renovate other guest areas in the Polynesian Resort, but provided little detail.

The Polynesian Resort will become Disney Vacation Club’s 12th property and its 8th at Walt Disney World. The time-share business will have inventory at all three hotels along Disney World’s iconic monorail, including the 428-unit Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, which opened in 2009, and the Villas at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, which is scheduled to open this October.

I hope they will be cheaper to buy into than the ones at the Grand Floridian.

Jeff Buterbaugh I hope that by “renovate”, they don’t mean “obliterate”.
