Dining Review: Flo’s V8 Cafe

Wow, what a cool looking place! Flo’s V8 Cafe sits at the junction of Rt.66 and Cross Street in DCA’s Cars Land. I just love the architecture of this place, very inviting. I haven’t dined here before so I decided to go for lunch to take advantage of my 15% AP discount. Of the five lunch entrees, I went for the Citrus Turkey Breast with old fashioned Turkey Gravy. It was served with two sides and a garlic chive roll. I chose the Cole Slaw, and Mashed Potatoes plus I added a large Coke. It all came to $12.73 (with discount). Not bad for a full lunch!

So, how did it taste? The sliced Turkey was fine (kinda hard to screw that up) and the gravy was good too, although a bit salty. The Slaw was, how do I say it, uninspiring. They used a vinegar, not mayo based dressing that I found dry and tasteless. The Garlic & Chive Roll was over seasoned and after a couple of bites, never want back to it. It’s a good thing I got a Coke!

Now for the Mashed Potatoes. They were flat out Horrible! Whatever seasoning combination they put in the potatoes, it tasted odd. Even the Turkey Gravy couldn’t rescue this side. Come-on, I really wanted some great “Comfort Food” here, but was sadly disappointed. In summary, the Turkey and gravy was fine, but everything else on my plate failed. It’s a good thing I got a Coke!

The next time I go to Flo’s V8 Cafe I think I’ll just order a glass of wine… sit out on patio… and gaze at the beautiful Cadillac Mountain Range.
