I visited Yak & Yeti Restaurant in Animal Kingdom’s Asia area last month for a late lunch. The two story building’s decor is a mix of Nepalese and Indian art and artifacts. They have a bar, gift shop, and outside a “Local Food” cafe. Taking advice from AJ at Disneyfoodblog.com, I made a reservation for 3pm and asked for a table upstairs. They gave me a table right next to a window… which is the perfect spot to watch Mickey’s Jammin’ Jungle Parade!
The menu has some “adventurous” selections on it so I decided to ask my server what her recommendations were. Her favorites were the Wok-Fried Green Beans and the Duck with Anandapur Glaze, so being “adventurous” I took her advice!
The Wok-Fried Green Beans were great! Served with a sweet Thai Chili dipping sauce, these beans were fried until the lite batter turned golden brown. They were so good, especially with a quick dip into the Chili sauce. While eating these I thought to myself, these are so much better than French fries!
Next was my entree… Roasted half Duck with Anandapur Glaze, Jasmine Rice and Stir-fried Vegetables On the side was a dipping sauce made from Oranges and Wasabi that had a spicy sweetness that made the Duck sing! Oh, and the Duck was moist and meaty. I thoroughly enjoyed this dish.
As soon as I finished my Duck, Mickey’s Jammin’ Jungle Parade started. It also started raining! Here a two shots of the parade from my table. Everyone lining the parade route were hot and wet while I enjoyed the parade in a dry, air-conditioned restaurant.
Summary: I really like this place. The service and food was top notch. Yak and Yeti is defiantly worth a return on my next trip!
Now, I have a “DbM Insider Tip” for you single diners. Sometimes Disney’s on-line dinning reservation system will not find any availability for a party of one. If this happens to you, change it to 2 guests and you will find a table!
